While I get the whole fuss about data sovereignty, isnt the main issue here about how data is used rather than where its stored? I mean, data misuse can happen anywhere, irrespective of the servers physical location. Just thinking out loud here, but maybe were fighting the wrong war?
Really interesting read on Data Sovereignty Wars. But arent we missing a crucial point here? Instead of fighting wars over data sovereignty, shouldnt we focus on creating an international data regulation framework? This could standardise data handling & eliminate these wars altogether. Just a thought.
